Session Description: 

Session provides practical information to conduct effective, value-based audits on primary and specialty care clinics. Tools reviewed include audit checklists, standard documentation, consistent auditing methods and formats for reporting. This session will explain procedures to ensure a clinic audit is executed timely and efficiently, and will include tips for collaborating with physician clinic leadership to implement improvements. The audit process provides an assessment of controls in various topics that impact physician clinic operations including: 
. Patient registration and cash controls, collecting patient information and payments, accounting, and segregation of duties. . Medication controls for ordering, stocking, inventory, storage and security. . Medical equipment controls for inventory, inspections and preventive maintenance. . Clinical practices and medical record documentation in risk-based areas which may include infection control, blood pressure measurement, patient rooming, immunizations and cancer screenings.

  • Create tools, templates and standard procedures to provide consistent results and data for clinic leadership

Speaker Bio(s):
Mary Anderson, CIA, MBA - Providence St. Joseph Health 
Mary possesses more than 20 years of experience in health care audit, compliance and government programs. She currently leads the internal audit department at Providence St. Joseph Health providing audit services to all facilities including hospitals, a multi-specialty clinic system and a health plan. Prior to joining Providence, Mary was a contracted Senior Audit Manager for CHAN Healthcare at a health system in Wisconsin, and previously as Director of Compliance, Audit and Government Programs and Medicare Compliance Officer at a managed care health plan. She is a Certified Internal Auditor and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Business Administration.
